Rev. John’s amazing story of finding his cat “Beautiful”
I want to share with you, a bitter-sweet story. On Tuesday Nov. 1st, 2016, I sadly had to release Pretty, my cat to her next expression of life. Pretty, a very friendly, soft and furry calico cat was my home companion for over 13 years. After a lengthy discussion with the veterinary doctor who had examine Pretty, and praying about it overnight, I felt it was best for her to let her go. While it was sad to do that, I was thankful for the many years of joy and love she gave me.
In the days following, I discovered how much I missed her, but at the same time began to give some thought to possibly having another cat while wondering if I might be disrespectful to Pretty by doing that so soon. Never-the-less, I did give thought to it. Years ago, I had a Siamese cat, which I loved, and gave some thought to maybe having another Siamese. Going online, I did a search. While doing so, I came across the Balinese breed and saw a picture of one. To my knowledge, Balinese are a kind of Siamese since they appear to be similar. I found a place in Georgia where they breed Balinese, but after learning the price, I dismissed the idea of possibly having one.
I was not real sure that I wanted to replace Pretty. Although I missed her I knew she was happy in her new surroundings. It was not the end of life for her, but a new beginning. One day, a friend suggested to that I go to PetSmart and look on the bulletin board where people may list pets to give away, or for sale. I took note of that so, on Saturday, November 5th, while out running some errands, and since I was headed in the direction of the PetSmart store, I decided to go there and check their board.
Upon entering the store, I asked a worker about the board and was directed to the Animal Adoption room. It was a glassed-in room with a double tier row of cages. In the cages were cats of different descriptions. As I slowly looked into each cage, no cat appealed to me, and none paid me any attention, that is, until I got to the last cage on the top tier.
Looking in the cage, I saw this beautiful cat that had a Siamese appearance and when I stuck my fingers through the bars of the cage, she quickly came and rubbed up against them! She was very friendly and beautiful and I felt a definite connection to her. So when I asked her if she would like to go home with me, she meowed approvingly.
When I read the tag on the front of the cage, it said the breed was a Balinese! She was a beautiful brown with a lot of black, and just over 4 years of age. However, looking further at the tag, it said, “Adoption fee: $200.” Then began the questioning process if I should really spend the money and adopt her.
About that time, I turned around and saw a man and a woman, who didn’t know each other, watching me interact with the cat. The man quickly said, “She wants to go home with you.” I then told them about Pretty and having to let her go on Tuesday. I went back to visiting with the Balinese, and when I turned around again, the man said, “Take her home with you and I will pay the adoption fee!” The woman asked him, “May I go half with you?” The man said, “Sure.” That was an offer I couldn’t refuse! The man later told me that he hadn’t intended to go to that PetSmart store that morning, but “something” told him to go.
A worker at the store came in and took the cat out of the cage so we could get more closely acquainted, and it was a wonderful experience. She was pure love! So, after taking care of the paper-work, she came home with me. Her given name was Charmin, but I call her Beautiful. She is very affectionate and is big on lap-sitting. I often call her Lovie and Sweetie. She obviously loves living with me in my home, and I love having her here. She loves up everyone who comes to my home. This story serves to prove that God is always looking out for us and sometimes seems to hurry to fill in the empty spaces. I have a card in my office that says, “Life is wonderful! People are great! Business is good!” How true that is! – Rev. John

Golden Keys to Answered Prayer …
A vital Golden Key to answered prayer is Relaxation. When you pray, relax into the Presence of God. A hurried, worried mind is so full of the wrong stuff, God seeming can’t find a place to reveal the answer to your prayer. The first requirement of prayer is to relax. Then, let go and let God. Let God fill your mind with all that He is, infinite life, love, power, peace, joy, wisdom and abundant good.

In the Mail …
Interesting Story! – I really used The Golden Key this week and on Thursday was contacted by my lawyer in Florida, who told me that she was just out of court and that the outstanding warrant had been dismissed!! This was after originally telling me that it was probable that I would have to go there to be processed through The Pinellas County Jail!! Coincidence?!?!?! I don’t think so!! A Little Humor …
A woman found a note on the coffee-shop menu: “We will pay you $10 if you order a sandwich we can’t make.” She ordered an elephant ear sandwich. After several minutes, the waitress returned and said, “Here’s your $10, ma’am. We can’t make that sandwich.”
“I’m not surprised,” answered the woman. “Where would you ever get an elephant’s ear?” “
Oh, it’s not the ear,” said the waitress. “We’re out of those big buns!” – David Letterman
