Using “I Am”
We have all been given a wonderful “tool” which we use to create our lives as we choose. It is called “I am.” “I am” is your spiritual identity; the I real you, the Christ Mind in you. “I am” is your “handle of power” by which you shape your life. It is your golden key to radiant health.
By the use of your “I am” you tear down or build up your body and life. You are wise to always make positive assertions when making statements regarding your body. For instance, if you make declarations such as “I am ill,” “I am sick,” “I feel bad,” or “I am in pain,” you are creating or sustaining error. It may be a fact that these “things” are as they are, but they have no substance in and of themselves.
You do yourself a world of good by making statements such as, “I am radiantly healthy.” “I am well and whole.” “I feel great!” Better yet, “I am Health!
It is also not wise to say, “I have this” or “I have that” in relation to some apparent illness or disease. Sometimes someone will say, “I have cancer.” Or, “I have a headache.” When you know the Truth, you know that you can have nothing but God because God is all there is, and God is infinite life, love, wisdom, peace and perfection. In the face of apparent ill-health, boldly in faith declare, “I cannot be sick for I have the presence, power and activity of God within me. Therefore, I am healthy, whole and perfect now!”
Use your “I am” power for up-building your body. Just for one day, listen to how you using your “I am.” Pay attention to what you connect it to. A common error is declaring, “I am tired.” This is not really true. Your body is telling you that it could use some rest or a little nourishment. It is better to say, “I am alive with the ever-renewing Life of God. As my real self, I am healthy, happy, and positively alive all the time!”

Affirm Prosperity!
As with health, you are wise to use your “I am” positively in relation to prosperity. If you have been using words such as, “I am in lack,” “I am suffering financially,” “I am broke,” or, “I am barely making ends meet,” you are wise to change this kind of down-grading self-talk. It is non-productive and it will keep you in that kind of condition.
It’s amazing how many people ignorantly and carelessly use their “I am” to degrade themselves and thus avoid the good they might otherwise enjoy. These people usually wonder why they don’t prosper. Many other people use their “I am” power in positive acceptance of themselves as divine creations deserving of God’s very best. Through their “I am” power they claim and enjoy living prosperously.
One day, a young man came to see me. He said that he couldn’t understand why he had to work so hard for so little. As I listened to him, he went on to say, “It seems that I am just meant to work hard, struggle through life, and get by the best I can.”
As gently, but as firmly as I could, I told him that he was not put here to struggle through life and to get over that wrong belief about having to work hard. I said to him, “The Truth is, you are a child of God and you are meant to be just as prosperous as you can be. It is God’s desire for you to be rich and you don’t have to work hard to do it, but you need to use your good mind better. It is not good-thinking on your part to believe you must just get by. You live in an over-abundant universe that wants to give you all the help and prosperity you want. In short, by your words you have been connecting your ‘I am’ with the wrong things.”
This young man was instructed to listen to what he was thinking and saying in relation to prosperity, and to change every negative to a positive. He was instructed to learn and use the laws of prosperity. Since he was not a tither, I urged him to begin because that would put him in a divine partnership with God, the Source of all wealth. I assured him that God has never failed and won’t fail him. Fortunately, he was receptive and assured me that he would set about making the changes needed. Later on, he came to see me again. He was obviously changed. He said, “I did as you said. I changed every ‘I am’ to something positive. I became a tither, and I started my own business which is prospering nicely. I am so grateful for your help.”
Try this exercise: For one day, declare (with feeling) 100 times, “I AM PROSPERITY!” Then repeat the exercise for three days, then for a week. If a doubt or negative thought tries to interfere, declare: “I AM PROSPERITY!”
This is a very positive and prospering way to use your wonderful “I am.” Do it and let me hear what happens.
