A Delightful, Powerful Mental Practice
By Rev. John W. Adams
Thankfulness is a delightful, powerful mental practice that helps to keep you in tune with God, and to cause an ever-increasing flow of rich abundance in your life. Happier and more richly blessed are those who practice thankfulness.
Have you ever tried counting your blessings, and like the song say to name them one by one? An excellent practice is to write down on paper as many things you can think of for which you are grateful. Write at the top of the sheet, Thank You, God, for. . . Then list your blessings.
Or you can write, Thank You, God for. . . before each blessing, such as: Thank You, God, for my good health, Thank You, God, for my car (home, friends, etc.). Then, go over your list daily for at least 30 days. You might even rewrite the list each day.
Especially include things you may not call blessings, or may not be thankful for which would include challenges, appearances of lack, difficulties, and so on. Being thankful for these is a sure way to take the “sting” out of them and turn them into blessings. Also include what you expect to have such as your goals and desires fulfilled.
Another good practice
Another good thankfulness practice is to just declare: “Thank You, God” many times each day, doing this for anything that comes to mind, or happens during the day. If someone cuts you off in traffic, say, “Thank You, God!” Even if someone is rude to you, say, “Thank You, God!”
If you receive some money, say, “Thank You, God!” Or, if some money you were expecting has not shown up yet, say, “Thank You, God!” That’s the best way to speed the money on its way to you.
T Y G F T A T I M – Thank You God For The Abundance That Is Mine
Declaring the above, over and over, is a great prosperity booster that creates the Gratitude Attitude which in turn causes you to be happier and healthier, too. Print out these letters, make several copies and place them around your home or office to remind you to thank God for His abundance. Give them to friends, too.
With the economy as it is today, many people are struggling to prosper. If you, or someone you know, are one of these, you are especially urged to focus on TYGFTATIM. It means to lift your thinking above appearances to the vast abundance that your loving Father has for you and everyone, and to thank God that is your NOW.
Thank You, God for the Abundance that is Mine!
In the appearance of lack, declare over and over: “Thank You, God for the abundance that is mine” until your whole being resonates with God’s abundance. This will drive lack out of your consciousness and cause abundance to take its place in your mind, and in your life.
A woman did this when she didn’t know where food or money was to come from for herself and her small children. Unemployed, she began to practice thankfulness by first being genuinely thankful for what she had, and declared over and over: “Thank You, God, for the Abundance that is mine.”
Before long, she found a good-paying job and everything drastically improved for herself and her family. Eventually, she thankfully, met and married as wonderful, wealthy man.
Thankfulness is the expression of love
Thankfulness is not just something you do toward God, but toward every person. Just think how wonderful our world would be, if everyone practiced thankfulness toward each other.
Of course, this is practiced to a large extent in business, especially in stores although sometimes people will say, “Thank you” without giving it much thought or feeling. The more feeling you put into thankfulness, the more love there is in it because thankfulness is the expression of love.
A good practice is to say to others: “Thank you for what you do, for who you are, and for being you.”
Where do you live? Hopefully it is in the Land of Thankfulness as described in the following poem by Frank B. Whitney.
I Live in the Land of Thankfulness
Frank B. Whitney
I love the Land of Thankfulness
Where blessings overflow.
I claim it as my native home,
Most charming land I now;
And if I’ve need of anything,
No matter what it be,
I just give thanks with confidence
And see it come to me.
I like to live in Thankfulness!
Would live there all my days;
Would let its spirit stir my soul
And fill my heart with praise.
I questioned once how I had found
A place of such a kind;
Knew I’d discovered it, because
I’d thankful thoughts in mind
Oh, come with me to Thankfulness!
We ask this of you:
That you be always thankful, friend,
But this is all you do.
And if there’s anything you need,
No longer doubt or fear;
The thing you seek’s awaiting you,
It surely will appear.

Thankfulness opens and keeps open the doors and windows of God’s lavish blessings. It lifts your heart and gives God’s abundance wings to fly to you more easily. Go for it with all your thankful heart!
