Adding to the Good in Your Life
Here is a way that you may increase the good in your life without making a lot of effort in doing so. Jesus said, “Be at peace, and great good will come to you.” Usually, people work very hard in an outer way, and often worry and fret over manifesting the increased good they desire. The opposite is true. The less you labor over something and the more you surrender to the peace of God, the easier it is to have the desires of your heart. This does not mean to just sit and do nothing.
Jesus didn’t say that you must effort or work hard. He didn’t say that you should be worried, fearful, or anxious, either. He said, BE AT PEACE. When you surrender to the peace of God, which is an act of faith, you let God be in charge, let Him guide you and actually do the “work,” through you. It is the peaceful mind through which God’s good flows. The more you can be at peace, the easier and greater will God’s infinite good come to you.
We love it when one of our many friends sends something especially inspiring to us. Recently, Elizabeth R., who lives in New Hampshire, sent the following e-mail:
Dear Rev. John,
I so appreciate the various emails I receive from you. I think I get something from you every day and your messages help me to remember God. One of my favorite messages was a one-minute meditation you sent at the end of October: “I surrender to the peace of God within me and I feel His loving presence around me keeping me safe.” I used that as my minute meditation for at least a month and I often use the first part of it when I notice that I am worrying, or if I can’t sleep, or if I’m agitated about something. I immediately relax and lay my weapons down and God’s love floods in!
I surrender to the peace of God within me
My daughter Mary has started a vinyl decal business www.brooklyndecal.com. She asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I asked her for a decal for my study. She made it using my own handwriting and installed it along the top of the wall across from where I sit to read and journal. I love how it turned out! See the attached photo. Thank you so much for all you do to enrich my life and the lives of so many others! – Love, Elizabeth
