2021 A No Fear Year
There is nothing to fear.
God is Love and God is here.
Part 2
By Rev. John W. Adams
In my book, BE What You Are: LOVE, I wrote about a frightened young lady who phoned me one day. It was in Port Angeles, Washington, where I pioneered the Unity church. I listened as she poured out her story. Her husband was threatening to divorce her and take their two children away from her. She was beside herself with fear because she believed he could do that. She was so distraught, she said that she was going to end her life.
After listening, and talking with her for a few minutes, I explained that God is always present and because God is Love, nothing bad could come to her or her children. I said to her: “There is nothing to fear. God is Love and God is here,” and I asked her to repeat these words. With encouragement, she finally began, and I asked her to repeat them again, and yet again. As she did, she began to relax and let go of the fear. We ended our phone conversation when she assured me that she was feeling so much better and would be all right.
I learned later that although she and her husband did divorce, she and her children were very happy with the amicable arrangement that was worked out.
I have shared this story with you to emphasize the truth that since God is all that is and God is Love, then there is no room for fear. It makes fear a no-thing. This is one reason why anyone who gives in to fear, gets so frustrated because they believe something is real when it is not. Only Love is real.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF YOU HAD NO FEAR?
Here are a few ideas to help you live your no-fear year.
- First – believe it is possible.
- Second – think of how your life will be when you stop allowing fear to run it.
- Third – replace every fear thought/feeling with a God thought/feeling.
In other words, instead of giving in to fear, think of God. God is Love. Golden Key it!
If doing this for a whole year may seem too big, just do it for a day. For some people, this too might be too much, so how about for one hour? It merely requires you to pay attention to what you are thinking and feeling, and to switch to love. Love breeds faith. Together, they always win!
Make the switch. Allow Love to be your main focus. When you do, your attention is on God in you where it should always be.- Lovingly, Rev. John
