#1 of the Love, Prayer Series
Each of these articles features a particular aspect of life and how love and prayer pertain to those aspects.
It is challenging to write comprehensively about relationships in an article of this length. So, I will share a few ideas to help you have a more perfect relationship.
I’m not sure if there is such a thing as a perfect relationship. The inter-action of humans is one of the most complex and challenging things we engage in, and unless we live in a cave, we cannot help but interact with other humans.
To have a good relationship with other people, it is most important to have a good relationship with ourselves since we, individually, are always with ourselves. The way we treat ourselves is about the way we will treat other people. Some one said, “Wherever I go, there I am!”
Of course, our relationship with God is most important. We must remember that we are, first and foremost, spiritual beings having a human experience on Mother Earth.
Jesus said to, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” We really cannot do otherwise. If there is someone in your life with whom you find it difficult to get along with, it will greatly benefit you, and the other person, to look within yourself to see how well you get along with you. Like attracts like.
We know it is always good to “Golden Key” other people, but remember to “Golden Key” yourself, too. In other words, see the Christ in yourself and it will be easier to behold the Christ in others.
It is through prayer and love that happy, healthy relationships are established and maintained. Love is the primary and most needed ingredient of every relationship. This means unconditional love where no demands are made on others.
In intimate relationships, it is prayer that opens the way for the right person to share your life with you. However, rather than praying for the right person to come into your life, it is better to pray to be the right person – the kind of person you want to attract. Here is a positive prayer to use if you’d like to attract the person of your dreams. I am Divine Love, therefore, I am divinely irresistible.
A woman, who had been seeking a husband, began praying the above prayer. She spoke it hundreds of times. It led her to do the things needed to improve her mind, attitudes, actions and looks. Before long, she was glowing with love. Because she had a few serious things to overcome, it took several months, but eventually she met Mr. Right. She quickly discovered that, among other desirable qualities, he was the most loving man she had ever met. She had attracted to her the male correspondent to herself. They soon happily married.
As I mentioned earlier, your relationship with God is of great importance. There was a time in my life when I didn’t want anything to do with God as I understood Him to be. My concepts were all wrong. Thankfully, Unity changed all that. Through learning the Truth about God, my relationship drastically changed in a very positive way. I not only began loving God, but since I learned that God is within me as my real nature, I soon began loving myself. We’ve enjoyed a wonderful relationship for many years and it keeps getting better!
God is love and you are always wise to prayerfully love your way in all your relationships. As Emmet Fox said, Love is by far the most important thing of all. – Lovingly, Rev. John

Prayers for new home answered! – Thank you for praying with me for the right house to rent. Right now all I can say is “hallelujah!” As I was browsing on the web, looking for a 3-bedroom house to rent for myself and my family, the lady with whom I have been staying, happened to look over my shoulder. She asked if I wanted to rent the one I am staying in since she was going to move out. I was amazed and silently thanked God over and over. By accepting this house, I helped her make a major decision to move which she is now preparing to do. I will take over the rent the first of next month. Thank you immensely for your answered prayer. You are the best. Please continue to pray with me for the money to decorate and take care of all expenses. God bless you! – W. J. in Virginia
