Namaste

2016, Positive Living Newsletter / by Rev. John W. Adams

Namaste“I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells. I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light, and of peace. When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, we are one.”

Namaste (NAH-mas-tay) is the Indian way of greeting each other. Wherever they are – on the street, in the house, in public transport, on vacation or on the phone – when Hindus meet people they know or strangers with whom they want to initiate a conversation, Namaste is the customary courtesy greeting to begin with and often to end with. It is not a superficial gesture or a mere word and is for all people – young and old, friends and strangers.

With all the apparent violence on our planet, and the desire to create a sense community, Namaste is the perfect way toward establishing peace and harmony among all people. It is showing respect for one another, when greeting each other. Just imagine how our world would be if we could all practice Namaste, providing we did so in the full and true meaning of it.
Namaste could be just a casual or formal greeting, a cultural convention or an act of worship. However, there is much more to it than meets the eye. The real meeting between people is the meeting of their minds. When we greet one another with “Namaste,” it means, ‘may our minds meet’. If you bow your head, it is a gracious form of extending friendship in love, respect, and humility.

Namaste is love in expression. If there is anyone with whom you would like to have a more harmonious relationship, practice sincerely greeting them with “Namaste.” By doing so, you acknowledge the divinity of that person, as well as yourself. What a wonderful way to live life lovingly! – Namaste! –Rev. John

Positive Prayer
NAMASTE! I behold the Christ in you and in myself.  In love, we are one.

Golden Keys to Answered Prayers …

Faith is essential to answered prayer. Whatever you pray and affirm for, BELIEVE YOU RECEIVE. In truth it is even more powerful to believe you have already received. For instance, if you are affirming for the healing of a certain part of your body, declare: In faith, I give thanks for perfection in every cell of my body. The same principle is true for relationships and finances, too. Act as though it is already so!

Bytes of Wisdom …

No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow. – Alice Walker

Peace and friendship with all mankind is our wisest policy, and I wish we may be permitted to pursue it. – Thomas Jefferson

Do everything you can to help others as much as you can for as long as you can. – Hillary Clinton

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same. – Anonymous

You can make more friends in two months by becoming really interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you. – Dale Carnegie

In the Mail …

Fortunes turn Upward! – Recently, I asked you to pray with me for my brother who had injured his back and couldn’t work. I am happy to report that he is okay now and has returned to his job. When I first contacted your ministry, it was a turning point in my life. Our fortunes have turned upward in a wonderful way. Thank you for supporting me and my brother in prayer. I am enclosing my grateful tithe. – Alabama

Prayer Requests

A Little Humor …

You used to put your kids to sleep at night with bedtime stories. Now they come in at bedtime and tell you stories that keep you awake all night. The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don’t know what you’re doing, someone else does. The butcher backed into the meat grinder and got a little behind in his work. Two silk worms had a race. They ended up in a tie. I wondered why the baseball kept getting bigger. Then it hit me!
