Golden Keys to Positive Living
Whatever you want more of in life, there is a secret way to success in having it. I call it a secret because people often are unaware of this potent way of causing more to flow into their lives.
Eric Butterworth, who was a Unity minister and author of many books, tells it this way. A man was extremely despondent over his life. He had been laid off from an important position with a large corporation. (Sound familiar?) It was a typical case of “too young to retire and too old to get work.”
He was sitting on a park bench, brooding over his situation which appeared quite hopeless. He became aware of the sound of crying. He ignored it at first, for he had his own problems to cry over. As the sobbing continued, he looked around and discovered it was a young lady. At first, annoyed at the disturbance of his gloom session, he was thinking Why won’t she stop? Finally, following his humane instincts, he went over to the girl and tried to comfort her.
In time he gained her confidence, and she related her story. She was unemployed and alone in the city. She was too proud to return home and admit that she had failed in her career attempt. Her situation had become desperate, and she was actually contemplating suicide.
The man, forgetting himself, talked to her as if she were his own daughter. He encouraged her, helped her to find a new attitude and he suggested some contacts that she might make. Soon the young lady went off smiling and with a new hope shining in her eyes.
The man sat incredulously trying to assess what had happened, for now, for some strange reason, his own hope had been restored. In this short exchange with the young lady, his own life had taken on new meaning. He realized that, while he had been brooding over his needs, he was further frustrating the flow of his good. When he began to think of someone else, there was a letting go, a giving way. He actually forgot himself in his compassion for this forlorn creature. The frustrated flow was unblocked, his perspective returned, and “in the twinkling of an eye,” he was in the flow and life was good again.
That very night the man received a phone call, inviting him to start work on an important project that meant a whole new beginning in his life. And, as if to demonstrate the flow in a tangible way, the next afternoon he received a totally unexpected check in the mail. A bad debt that he had long since written off was being repaid. All of this-just because he “gave way” to the flow. – Excerpt from In the Flow of Life by Eric Butterworth.
I know how that man felt. Sometimes, in the establishing of this ministry, things would not go as well as I thought they should. Often, in the midst of feeling sorry for myself, someone who needed my help, would call. Always, through the process of helping them, my own seeming troubles were forgotten, as I allowed the flow of God’s love and goodness to flow in and through me in greater measure than before. – Lovingly, Rev. John

Golden Keys to Answered Prayer …
When you pray, give God a free hand to help you. Put out of your mind all doubts and fears about how your prayer is to be answered. Have faith that it is being answered because God is infinite love and wisdom and never fails. Do not worry. Just as you leave the digestion of your food to the care of your body, leave the answer to your prayer with God in trust and confidence. God always answers. God is the Answer.

Fortunes Turn Upward! – Recently, I asked your ministry to pray with me for my brother, who had injured his back and couldn’t work. I am happy to report that he is okay now and is back to work. When I first contacted your ministry, it was a turning point in my life. Our fortunes have turned upward. Thank you for your prayers. – From Alabama

A Little Humor …
Recently married, my wife and I were doing errands and discussing current events. Soon we got into an argument over the issues. I reiterated my position forcefully, but Christine had the last word. “When I knew I had found Mr. Right,” she snapped, “I had no idea his first name was Always!” – Paul Kessler
